I'm so proud of Grant. I went to middle school with him at Kent Senior Public School and Ursula Frankiln Academy. We'd bump into each other over the years at parties and on the street. He was and still is such an optimistic go-getter, full of great empathy and agape love. I remember when he worked at Pizza Pizza in the summer of '99 at the Exibition Grounds while I worked for Cirque Du Soliel's production of Dralion. He told me that he wanted to become a chef. I always knew that he would make it big some day. Everytime after that I would bump into him and he would update me on the many great strides he was making in his career. The Sky was the limit for him. I now live and work as a youth counsellor working with homeless youth in Vancouver BC, but the next time I visit my hometown(Toronto), I'm going to enjoy a meal at one of Grant's restaurants. I'll keep following your continued ascent to greatness, my brotha' from anotha' motha'! One love.

Bravo for a piece about a really cool guy with two really cool spots in Toronto. I love my city and Grant Van Gameren has only made our food scene that much more colourful.
