Imagine a place where anyone can have a home cooked meal for nothing more than compassion.
This short film from Chintan Gohil is all about the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India, where thousands of people of all colours, castes and religions come each day to make and share a meal. The film shows women kneading the dough to make naan bread, men stirring enormous pots of soup, families pouring in the front doors, silver plates in hand, and children sitting on the floor as they devour their dinner.
Gohil has a lot to say about the global food crisis that has taken ahold of places like India but, in a way that is playful and energetic, he also says a lot of community, generosity and curry.
