Delicious Decay

Food photography typically showcases the fresh and vibrant qualities of edibles. Plump strawberries glisten with crystalline drops of water and a rib eye steak temps the carnivore within as it rests plainly on a slate slab.
Photographer Klaus Pichler is turning this notion of tantalizing taste pictures on its head with his most recent project.

Each frame highlights a different food after months of decay atop his toilet. Stark black background allow for something unexpected—bright punches of blue and green mold spores—to lead the show.
