We loved that Thanos Zakopoulos and Katia Meneghini Italian-architecture plates weren’t gaudy but we love their Hybrid plates because they are just that.
The collection of plates, known as Hybrid, was designed by artists and designers, Thanos Zakopoulos and Katia Meneghini, and is produced by SELETTI, a company from Italy. The collection includes three dinner plates, three fruit plates, three bowls, three coffee cups and their plates, three mugs and one large salad bowl – each with unique design that is split down the middle.
But Hybrid is more than just a quirky plate design. One half of of the plate is meant to represent the Western world, perhaps with a painted war scene of men riding horses in red military coasts, while the other side represents the East, perhaps with a couple of orange and purple koi fish. Each dish design is decidedly separate from the other but, at the same time, both are brought together in unity on one plate.
“The Hybrid collection looks at the present while reflecting on the irony of history,” Zakopoulos and Meneghini say.
