Fumi Koike’s Comfort Food Paintings

With so many ways to draw, paint and photograph food, we love that Fumi Koike, an artist from Fukuoka, Japan, has taken such a simple approach.

Chili, fried eggs and sausage, mangosteen and some kind of curry and rice are just a few of the foods that Koike has painted using broad, messy brushstrokes, imperfect shapes and warm colours to bring to life the comfort of the dishes in her paintings.
