Beer – yummy even when frozen.
The other day laziness and forgetfulness (they’re cousins right?) joined forces and created a happy accident in my freezer. You see, I was too lazy to put all or most of the recently bought beer in the fridge and once braced with thirst for the beverage, I threw one in the freezer hoping to speed up the time it would take to get it nice and chilled. But I was distracted for a period of time longer than the ten minutes I thought I’d have to wait for the beer (maybe I poured myself a drink that required ice cubes or something) and forgot all about the lonely brown bottle of ale freaking out in the freezer.
When I finally did go in to the freezer again (possibly to get more ice cubes for that other drink) I saw the now opaque bottle staring back at me. I took it out and let it calm down for a bit (this isn’t the first time I’ve done this people) and once I opened it and tasted that slushy goodness, I didn’t feel so bad because I remembered – beer tastes good frozen too!
I tell you all this to say that beer popsicles are a good idea. Yes they require more planning than simply placing and then forgetting a bottle of beer in the freezer, but the results will definitely be more satisfying than trying to knock delicious slushy bits out of a bottle and into a glass. And you can amp up the flavour of that beer on a stick with other delicious things like lemon and sugar.
