They say that making the perfect sandwich is an art. Chicago design student, Kelly Pratt, has turned this idea into Stately Sandwiches, a collection of sandwich photos with one for each of the states in the United States.
Each of Pratt’s photos feature a wooden cutting board covered with ingredients like bacon and tomatoes for Kentucky, corned beef and Swiss cheese for New York and, of course, all kinds of bread. Some of the sandwich show off the regional produce of a state, like the avocados in the California sammie, and others celebrate the culture, like the New York reuben. To learn about the sandwich culture in each state, Pratt read lots of books, called up local sandwich shops and talked to friends from other parts of the country.
If Pratt were to make sandwiches for the Canadian provinces, which sandwich do you think your province would be?
