You might not expect Detroit, Michigan to have such a burgeoning food scene but it turns out it does.
A small but spirited group of chefs, restaurant critics and other food industry insiders are taking Detroit from food wasteland to culinary haven.
Supper clubs like Komodo Kitchen and cafes like Great Lakes Coffee are putting Detroit on the restaurant map but it is the Detroit Eastern Market that has made Motor City a truly promising place to eat. Each Saturday, the Detroit Eastern Market brings a bounty of fresh fruits, vegetables, jams and maple syrup, eggs and meat from Ontario, Ohio, Michigan and the surrounding area, transforming a city known for being a food desert into a place of culinary inspiration.
