“Save Food from the Refrigerator” by Jihyun Ryou

I don’t think I’ve ever contemplated not having a fridge in my home. I guess it’s just one of those things that you take for granted. Jihyun Ryou’s analog style fridge is an attempt to change that mindset.

Ryou’s project aims to re-introduce and re-evaluate “the traditional oral knowledge of food, which is closer to nature. Furthermore, it aims to bring back the connection between different levels of living beings, we as human beings and food ingredients as other living beings.”

Her designs are quite elegant, simple and beautiful. They utilize some of the inherent, organic qualities of the food to aid preservation, bringing their care to the forefront of both your eye and your mind, instead of relying on hidden technologies.
