Specimen of a Sip

An up-close and oddly beautiful look at popular man-made beverages.

After working as a bartender and barista, artist William Legoullon developed a fascination with beverages, from how that cup of coffee is brewed to what goes into a can of Coke. In his photographic series, Fingerprints of Drinkable Culture, Legoullon uses a microscope to capture close-up photos of the five most popular drinks: coffee, tea, cola, wine and beer. The photos produce some stunning colours, shapes and patterns similar to an abstract watercolour painting.

β€œThe resulting images provide us with a chance to analyze these fingerprints of drinkable culture as an act of art consumption.”
